More on Global Warming
Forgive me my obsession, but my recent trip to the Arctic really drove global warming home. Here's the news ...
Arctic Summers Ice-Free by 2013 --The latest modeling studies indicate northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers within just 5-6 years. Professor Wieslaw Maslowski told an American Geophysical Union meeting that previous projections had underestimated the processes now driving ice loss.
XX beyond this bad news, expert sources confirm that no matter what we do, there may be enough global warming in the 'pipeline' already take us up to and maybe past the Eemian Interglacial point. That was 125,000 years ago, when sea levels were 20 to 26 feet higher.
What's more, if current greenhouse gas emissions continue and grow, the planetary temperature may soon exceed the Pliocene warm up. That was about 3 million years ago when sea levels were 65 feet to 100 feet higher.
If you need to find a sunny side, if we keep this up, beachfront in Antarctica is going to be ice-free AND habitable.
